However, something appears to be fishy with the Confidence AV. If you click on UeeInfo in the CK, not a single actor comes up. Which makes me think that the Confidence form in an actor's AI tab is actually stored in a different AV

Anyway, there also is another problem. The script's purpose is to make a radstag aggressive and to start combat with the aggressor if he gets hit (this needs to be done by a script because there are no enemy factions specified for the faction the radstags are in). A note on line 24 says this explicitely:

mySelf.setValue(confidence, 2) ; go aggressive

However, to make an actor aggressive, the Confidence is entirely the wrong AV. What the script should be using instead is the Aggression. You may compare this to MasterAmbushActorScript, which does the same for leveled molerats (and a bunch of other actors using that script): it uses the Aggression AV. Plus, that script never complains about the AV being none.

The fix is pretty simple: modify the property on the magic effect (i.e. the base form) to point to the Aggression AV, instead of the Confidence AV. We do not even have to modify the script.
